My small caricatures ENLARGED and COLORED

I have enlarged some of my old little caricatures and digitally colored or recolored them.

Usually I draw my caricatures fairly small. The heads are usually only 4 to 7 cm high.
I've ENLARGED some of my little caricatures - and I recently (re)COLORED some of them.

I enlarged them with a photocopier. Not so perfect of course, the black is sometimes very pale with many white dots in it.
Then I scanned them with a regular All-in-One home printer.

I make them really black with paint.net. I don't have Photoshop.
Paint.net is free and it usually does enough for me. And I have Gimp to supplement where necessary.

I also color with paint.net. I don't have much experience with digital painting but it's certainly much faster and easier than
with watercolor or gouache on paper - and it looks nice in my opinion. Perfectly even colours, beautiful transitions...

Here with a golden frame ... Michael apparently liked shiny gold (noticeable for example on the cover of his 'Dangerous' LP)

Next one! - Our former minister Willy Claes, now 83, still active as a pianist! In 1994 and 1995 he was Secretary General of NATO.

Again with a nice color thanks to paint.net .
(By the way, I'm not paid by paint.net to run ads, this is just my workflow) :-)

Maybe here again with a gold frame because of the high rank?
Although ... it is not always gold that glitters.

The next one also happens to be a former Belgian minister, Willy De Clercq. He has also been party chairman and deputy prime minister.
And he was a member of the European Commission and a member of the European Parliament for many years.

His grandchild, Mathias De Clercq is currently mayor of Ghent.
(Fun fact: I've met them both in person a few times, at information meetings where I attended as a casual photographer for my day job)

And last but not least: Urbanus, according to some ... the funniest Belgian!
He is a stand-up comedian, singer, guitarist, comic book artist and actor in Flemish films.
Urbanus has enjoyed popularity in both Flanders and the Netherlands since 1974.

Here you see him as 'Hector' in the Flemish feature film of the same name. A bit simple, but also a genius orphan boy of 35,
who has to go to work in the busy bakery of his aunt and her husband. Hilarious at times!

Here you see him in his usual appearance back then: a storytelling and singing comedian with a guitar.

The colored version.
He was still relatively young here, 40 at most ... He started performing when I was in high school.

Below: also Urbanus, but 20 years later when I painted him in december 2006 for the children's newspaper 'Kits'.

This year he will be 73. But he remains a real joker, a little naughty and funny
and he still performs in theaters everywhere in Flanders and the Netherlands... and also on TV.

A photo of the original painting, gouache on paper, 31 x 42.8 cm, which is large for me.
Usually I painted my caricatures on A4, only that year I worked bigger...

... because they wanted to print them large, tilted on 2 pages.
